Digital Sovereignty and Local Labs: The Beginning of This Space

We live in an era where we've grown accustomed to giving away our data in exchange for the convenience offered by big corporations. This space is born precisely to question that inertia. My goal is to share experiences and alternatives in the IT world — programming, open source projects, and privacy — that allow us to take back control and reduce our dependence on subscriptions that today seem inevitable.

My personal lab: AI without the cloud

In mid-2025, I acquired an Asus ROG Strix G614PR with a clear purpose: to turn it into a small laboratory for exploring and running AI technologies locally. While it doesn't aim to compete with the power of a data center, its specs are the ideal engine for private experimentation:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen™ 9 8940HX
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 5070 Ti
• RAM: 64GB DDR5 5600 Mhz
• Storage: 1TB M2 SSD

Thanks to this hardware and the use of Ollama, I've been able to efficiently manage various open source language models (LLMs). I'll be documenting my workflow and the projects that emerge from this environment, along with the details of my recent full migration to GNU/Linux systems on both my desktop and laptop.

The stack behind the blog

This site is, in itself, an exercise in practice and customization. It's custom-built using Vue.js, the framework I've specialized in and where I continue to deepen my knowledge.

For content management, I chose Strapi. Being a headless CMS, it allows me to maintain a unified and modern technology stack, moving away from more traditional solutions like WordPress in order to have full control over the platform's architecture.

This site is hosted on a VPS using Docker + Dokploy to keep operating costs low while adding a modern CI/CD workflow, allowing me to add new features or experiment quickly, just like any cloud provider.
